About AEX Index
The Amsterdam Exchange index (AEX index) is a standard stock market index. AEX Index is composed of Dutch companies which trade on Euronext Amsterdam and it is known as the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. The AEX Index was founded in 1983; the index is composed of a maximum of 25 of the most frequently traded securities on the exchange. It is most Important national indices of the stock exchange group Euronext together with Brussels’ BEL20, Paris’s CAC 40 and Lisbon’s PSI-20.The AEX Index is a free-float adjusted marketplace value-weighted index and it is the leading Dutch stocks traded on the Amsterdam Exchange.
This AEX index was used to the Dutch Guilder fixing rate. The companies which are included in the AEX Index have reviewed per annum. The changes are made according to which companies had the maximum share revenue of the previous year.
The AEX index is a key indicator of the Euronext Amsterdam Exchange and entire Dutch economy. Since the Euronext Amsterdam is a relatively small exchange, trading around 150 companies. The index tends to be a more accurate measure of the market than other countries with equivalent indices. The AEX is a market capitalization-weighted index, meaning that the stocks are weighted according to the market value of all the outstanding shares.
